How does a person survive torture or hell?

All I really know about torture is all the horror movies I watch. My idea of horror is Jigsaws’ puzzles in Saw movies. I couldn’t imagine what real life torture would be like.

Obviously I don’t want to find out, but I think that the people who have been through difficult things in their lives like that it takes a lot of faith and the will to carry on.

Learning about the Holocaust, it talks a lot about what people went through during that time. Hiding and running your whole life isn’t the way most people want to live and it wasn’t just that. People were miserable! I wouldn’t know what that’d be like, but I can say it definitely falls under the category of torture.

Hell is a complicated term if you think about it. Hell can be a lot of things. A few people in my family are Satanists and to them, hell is their heaven. I am yet to have a faith or grasp an understanding of previous and after lives but to me, hell is what you make it. Just like life is what you make it. I think just living in a proctor house a ways away from home is hell but there are people out there that are going through a million times worse struggles. I have just learned to not complain about my life until I have it really bad.

So I’ve given a lot of thought to death and whether or not there is an afterlife. Is there a Heaven or Hell? Is there a God for that matter? I think to answer these questions I need to find out my own answers. Nobody can tell me what I believe.
I went to church a lot with my parents just to please them. If there is a God, then I’m pretty sure that this would offend Him. The first thing I need to find out is whether or not God is real. Then I can look into organized religions to fit what I believe.
One of my major problems is how lazy I am. I’m not really committed to a lot of things unless I want to do it. Based on what I know about religion it is a lot of work. I question myself a lot on whether or not I would commit myself. A lot of it is just because it is really hard.
In conclusion, I can’t learn anything without looking first. I really am fascinated by a lot of religions, but all of them have something that I don’t believe in. This makes it really hard for me to find what I want or need. I don’t think that I will ever find anything perfect, but I think living the way I believe is right is the best thing I can do. All I can do right now is look.

“In war there are no unwounded soldiers”

I think the quote means that in war even if a soldier is not physically hurt, they still might be emotionally or mentally hurt. I don’t think that Vladek will get the respect from his country that a veteran deserves. I think it’s sad that he won’t have his country be proud of him just because he is a Jew. Every veteran deserves to have their country be proud of them.

I think it would be a lot different to go to war now. Back then I think it would have been a lot crazier to go into an area infested with the enemy with just you, your gun and your fellow troops. You would have to go in their like a savage and blast the enemy before they blast you. Now it’s just bombs and missiles most soldiers don’t even know who they are killing whether it be women, men, or children.

My uncle fought in the war between Chile, Peru, Argentina, and Bolivia. Chile won the war and took Bolivia’s access to the pacific.

“You’re either for the court of against the court.” I’ve heard similar words or at least felt them. I felt that my proctor was for the court and she just wanted me to stay in custody as long as possible. In the beginning, I felt that everyone wanted to keep me in the system as long as possible. I felt that it was my family and I against everyone else.

Do I believe the world is black and white? I definitely don’t believe that the world is just black or just white or black and white. I know some people have good morals and standards, but aren’t always the kindest. Some people do honestly believe and follow what their standards are, and there’s some people that pretend to look good and go to church and to the public they’re perfectly innocent, but on the inside it’s complete opposite.

Well, life is pretty damn weird and confusing! My quest of figuring the world out is highly unorganized… I start one project and get side tracked in the blink of an eye. At the moment I am trying to find myself a faith, because not having one makes my life a little scary, being atheist is becoming harder than I thought because I am one of the most scared of dying. Everyone who says they aren’t afraid to die drive me crazy. I am terrified! I have been looking into witchcraft lately as crazy as that may sound. People see that as a bad thing mostly but the kind of witchcraft I am interested in isn’t what’d you call “evil”… good witchcraft? Yes it’s possible, I know a lady that I am very close to, she is like a mother to me, and she practices witchcraft and she is the most admirable person I know. Basically all it is, is you attract positive energies and cast helpful or spells with good intentions. I know I’d get a lot of shit from people being a witch but that’s how the world is, judge mental people left and right. I try be best not to judge people in a negative way! All in all I just want to make peace with the world and with the people around me

This weekend is going to be great I’m going to finish, my project, practice skating, and glow sticking. My project is making a tie dye bed set so far I’ve made a cover sheet and a pillow case. I still need to make the blanket and another pillow sheet but I’ve ran out of dye.

I’m also getting back into skating because summer is around the corner and I’m planning to get good again. Back in the summer of 2008, I was doing 6 stairs like nothing. My friends and I would skip school every morning and jump on the UTA and go to Salt Lake City. I was becoming so fearless and learning quickly but now I’m scared of even doing an Ollie off a four stair. It’s because I spent all last summer in a proctor house and then I broke my hand and wrist so skating was out of the picture.

One thing that came out of sitting in the house all year was I developed a skill for glow sticking. I’ve never been so good at something in my whole life. I’ve learned so quickly and can’t stop trying to get better. I’m hoping to some day be getting sponsored or become an entertainer and do poi. Poi is part of the polynesian culture where they spin fire around there body and create a type of art which is where glow sticking came from. This summer I’m planning on playing with fire. I’m putting the sticks away and bringing out the fire balls.

So far what we have read; it all started with the girls dancing in the woods. They really were just dancing and messing around. Abby took it serious and killed the chicken and drank its blood. They were caught doing all this by Paris. Then all this talk about witch craft started going around and everyone was freaking out. The girls got scared, so Abby in order to save her self she blamed Tituba. Tituba got scared and confessed in order to save herself. From their all the girls started accusing people of witch craft to save them selves. Many of the accused, who are truly innocent, confessed to witch craft to save them selves from being hung.
Who I dislike the least? It would have to be Procter, because he is the only one who seems to have any logic.
Who I dislike the most? It would be Abby because she is a scandalous bezzy.
What I think the story’s about, personally I think it’s about the ignorance of that era.

Life?

So I’ve given a lot of thought to my life. I’ve done a lot of things I’m not to proud of. I tried listing ten things in my life that I am proud of. It’s a lot harder than I thought it would be. Try it. It’s a lot harder than it sounds.
I’m trying to form the rest of my life into something I’m going to be proud of. I love music and I want to do something with it. I’m going to go to U.V.U to start music major. Eventually, I want to go to another college with a great music program.
Some people in my life want me to make a lot of money in my life. Honestly, I don’t really care what other people want. Don’t get me wrong a lot of money would be pretty cool. My biggest goal is to join a band and get famous. That’s my life dream. As my time of playing in a band ends, I want to become a music producer.
This is all my hopes and dreams. No matter what others think, to me, this dream is attainable. It may take a lot of work but I’m going to work really hard for it. In fact, it may take over my life. Given all this, I still don’t care. I want to follow my dreams.

Well this week has been pretty crazy already, but last weekend was boring. First it’s that I had to go to respite because my proctor did want us to be there. She said she needed to rest. I kind of hated being at that respite house because I was starving most of the time, and there was nothing to really do during the day or night, so I just slept most of the time n watched TV. Also this week, my proctor brother tried to runaway which was really funny. He didn’t even last that long. He left like at 10 p.m. then he got caught at 1 in the morning. It made me kind of mad because I couldn’t sleep that night. They woke me up to ask me if I knew were he was I said I didn’t but I really did. Plus I’m going to go to another jazz game which isn’t that bad it’s going to be fun, and hopefully they win this game. This is probably the third time I going to a jazz game and so far to the ones I’ve gone to they have won. So this week is going to be pretty busy. I really don’t do anything because of being in the program except when I go on home visits. But I still got 2 more months before I go to my next visit.

Spring Break

I’m way excited for spring break to come. Last year I got locked up right before spring break and Easter. It was way sad. I spend Easter pretty much by myself; well besides with the staff that worked there. I’m really hoping that this year will be better than last. I’ve got a little sister, so at least I know we’re going to color eggs and the Easter Bunny is going to come! I’m very excited to spend Easter with my little sister, mom, and step-dad for the first time. Well, I spent Easter with my mom like 10 years ago, but my little sister wasn’t alive yet, so I’m excited to spend it with her!

Spring break should be fun too! I’ll be going to go and hang out with people I haven’t seen for a while. I’m not hoping to get in trouble or anything though! I can only think of spring break because truth be told I have court tomorrow and I’m just a little nervous. I’m hoping to get released and to not have to continue therapy. Wish me luck!

Grudges

The people are holding grudges because other people have more land or children when others don’t. “People often grudge others what they cannot enjoy themselves.” People see others enjoying themselves and are jealous because of it, and they also blame others in the town of witchcraft. People are just being stupid and jealous. Everyone is jealous of at least one other person in the book and want to blame others for their problems. Or even their lives suck when there are other people in way worse situations that are just working with it without being jealous. They usually blame the person they are jealous of for their problems.

“All students are cheaters—never trust them with anything.” I don’t believe that statement and I don’t believe teachers think that all the time. Some teachers might think students are cheaters, but some students might think other students are cheaters. Some reasons I think teachers might think students are cheaters is because of their actions or maybe how they were in the past. Maybe when growing up, they were cheaters or hung out with cheaters. I don’t think it’s fair to judge all students off of a few or past experiences. Everyone deserves their own chance until they’ve proven themselves wrong.

Have you ever been falsely accused? I know I have. I don’t know anybody that’s never been falsely accused. My dad has accused me so many times of being drunk or high, so then if I got in trouble for something I didn’t do, then I’d go and do it, so his accusations wouldn’t be false and I’d be punished for the right things. There’s other times I’ve been falsely accused as well, but the ones with my dad will always stick I’m sure.

I was asked the question have you ever been wrongly accused of something? Yes, I have been falsely accused on the day I got arrested. I way accused of doing things that I did not do, although I was doing other bad things mostly illegal things at that. When I was getting arrested I felt mad and sad. I just kept wondering why the police officer was lying. I was asking myself why does he have to make this stuff up. If he was smart then he would be able to get me on some real chargers. Even though that wound be worse for me. I was mad as I said before because nobody believed me and everyone believed the police officer over me. And I can’t blame them because all the people around me when everything happened had charges. Also even though they knew I was being falsely accused there wasn’t anything that anyone could do. It didn’t help wed all been locked up together. Two days after I got arrested the people that were with me on that day got arrested and they were picked up on some bogus charges. It’s one of the stupidest things that has happened in my life.

I’ve been falsely accused many times. My old proctors would falsely accuse me daily. They’d put words in my mouth trying to make me sound like a shallow rude kid. Then they took my bone red bearings and said I stole them when really I got them from my friend Josh on a home visit. I even explained to them they were a gift but my old proctors were assholes and said I’m a liar and stuff. It really made me angry because they knew I didn’t steal them there’s no way I could of stole them. I never left my proctors house unless I was with them and I was with them the whole time we went anywhere. I just said whatever because they always did dumb stuff like that. Honestly they did it on purpose just to get under my skin which did work. I thought about running a lot because of things like this and I did end up running because of something like this. I thought a lot when I was on the run about how messed up things were in my program and how glad I was to be out of there. I put up with it for so long and my case manger wasn’t even that mad because he knew how my program was. Now I’m in a much better program and the director is so more understanding. Over all life’s good now, I’m better then ever before at glow sticking, my proctor are nice people, and I’m doing good all around.

I think the book will be about people being accused of things they didn’t do, and a man will be the one accusing them or everyone. He will be a mayor or someone really important in their colony. People will get tired of being accused and they will finally notice it’s out of revenge and witches are not real. They will end up killing the man or who ever started the whole witch thing and be a normal town again.

I’ve been accused and I’ve proved the people that done that wrong. Because I’m not scared to confront them unless it gets chaotic and then I’ll just walk away. But if people are being accused like that, then they should stand up and be like your lying. I think most people misinterpret things like when my brother would go to court sometimes his case managers and trackers would get so many things mixed up. He would get sent to DT, but that’s why you should talk it out. Or when my mom would hear things like your daughter is hanging out with a lot of boys and she is this and that and it wasn’t true. It can hurt a family really bad sometimes. I think I do it sometimes people say something and I think of it in a whole different way, but that’s how people are we don’t all think the same.

Well this week has been kind of boring and slow except for today that I get to go to a play in Salt Lake, which I always like to go to, also because there is nothing much to do at my proctor home.
I also had to do a three page paper on John F. Kennedy. It wasn’t too bad I finished it like in one day. Hopefully I pass this term with c grades or higher, because my language arts class is the only one I barley passed with a d minus. This is not too good, if I’m going to want to graduate early. Plus the next three to four months are going to be boring because my home visits got canceled, for smoking weed but I at least told them the truth. They at least didn’t lock me up which I’m pretty happy about. My judge didn’t get to mad either when my caseworker told him I over lapsed. I probably have one of the best judges because if it would have been some other judge I would have gotten locked up or sent to a group home. I want to also start living on my own, which I know is not going to be too easy but I want to try it.

Dream

A lot of people tell me that I shouldn’t follow my dreams. I don’t understand why. If these people really cared about me, then wouldn’t they want me to do what I love? I am passionate about music. I want to play in a band and eventually probably become a music producer. People tell me there isn’t money in this field. My answer is, quite frankly, I don’t care.
What I’m trying to get at is that if you don’t love what you do for a living, then you won’t enjoy life. I know plenty of people who hate their job. I don’t want that. Follow your dreams because doing what someone else wants you to do will bring unhappiness.
Music is what I am going to do. No one else can tell me what I should love. I don’t care about money. My parents want me to go into computer technology. I just keep telling them one day I will make my own choices and that they won’t really have any say in it. I’m shooting for the stars.
In conclusion, follow your dreams. Don’t let anybody else push you around into something you don’t want to do. Just because someone has your supposed best interests in mind doesn’t mean that they really care about your passion. Whether you want to be a doctor, construction worker, or even McDonalds manager, as Nike would say, just do it!

The book says that they were dancing to the song from Barbados that Tituba was singing. Another reason they were doing that could be that Tituba was a witch or something like it and was doing some kind of sorcery or summoning. So it could be a lot of different things. Maybe she was doing some religious song and dance that Paris didn’t approve of it because he was a Puritan and wanted Tituba to get into trouble because of it. He wouldn’t let his reputation go down the drain. It could also be that she was a very religious person, and people that were of the same religion either followed her or thought she was high in their religion. So she could have wanted to teach or purify the kids for some reason. Betty could have been affected by some supernatural force or something. It could have looked like she was a witch to Paris. So there are a lot of reasons that you could come up with for it.

So how long does it take you to finally realize what you have? I love my life and most of the people in it. I messed up, my bad. Stop stating the obvious already, that’s almost all I do now. I’m trying to figure out my life and my surroundings and what they really mean. I don’t want to live in this world not knowing about anything. I think that everything will be okay I’ve come along way, and people notice my strengths even when I don’t. If there is a God out there I hope he has enough guts to tell me what my purpose is and why I’ve been through all the shit I’ve been through. Life is weird and seems kind of pointless without a God, but it gives you one less thing to worry about.

Human

If it spills onto the carpet,
Does it show lack of movement?
We show that in which we want,
But greatly desire that which we show.
We look into the fateful mirror,
Only to see those dreadful eyes.
We walk in, with the willowy grass,
So the love of desire can show.
To walk with the fields of nature,
We see all that has and will come.
But to walk in the fields, our own,
We have to achieve that one impossible.
To be the man everybody desires,
Is the only way to live humanity.

The teeth in the dark

The streets are filled
They are here on command
They have all bled
They don’t know that they are the damned
They don’t know that I watch
They have no clue that I fight
That I fight for them
That I bleed for them
That I am defending the last hope
That I am the one that walks through the demons
That I am the teeth in the dark that bite, tear, rip.
That I am condemned to hell for them.
This is my personal brand of hell
This is the world we made
This is the pain that we inflicted
This is the cut that we made
We are dying and it is inevitable
The pain subsides as the last screams die out
The world ends…

Hunger, the driver of eternity,
Taste, that devilish fiend,
Making us strive for better’s exponent.

Death, that beautiful traitor,
Reaper, his furnace through you, staring,
Seeing yours every action.

Emotions, that glorious deceiver,
Love, the fire burning in me,
For the person you seem to be.

Relations, those essential pains,
Embrace, that sweet action,
Dripping from my every pore.

Thoughts, that taker of all,
Reasons, the ones I keep dear,
For, though I be yours, what return is there?

Tired

Sleep,
Or the lack of,
In a case
Such as this

It creeps on you
Like a running cup of spilt milk
I question
What the hell was I thinking?

It takes over
And laughs at you
While your head bobs
In the not so kind sunlight

I don’t understand
Why the withering branches of sleep
Can’t go entwine their corrupt roots
On someone else

He takes you
Boredom…
Eventually tearing away
Walls of consciousness

Simply taking over your day
And then when you go away
Good dreams either can be your
Best friend or worst enemy

Chains.

By Mike

Chains that Lock and Chains that Bind,
Not Outside but in the Mind.
You can’t see them but you know their there.
They don’t leave cuts or bruises but you feel their strain,
They don’t clank or rattle and people don’t know about the battle,
That takes place within that you can never win.
Take it for what you want but,
They are Chains that Lock and Chains that Bind,
Not Outside but in the Mind.

I loath you!!! [With all my black heart]

Your so stupid girl stupid and fake!!
Shut up and use your real voice for fucks sake!
Leave me alone I can’t stand to look at you
People hate you, not my fault; it’s the cards you drew
Why can’t you speak your damn mind?
I can’t wait to leave your sorry ass behind
This is not innocence that escapes your horrid lips
Lets tear out your evil heart and cut it into bloody strips
Deep down all I see is an introvert little bitch
Screw you I’m gone leave my soul in your backyard ditch

Dreams

The rises and falls of the greatest ever.
But the best will not quit now and never.
Hard challenges as you make your way to the top.
You have to keep going and never stop.
To fulfill your dreams in a matter of time.
Be the best when your in your prime.
So take what you have to get there.
Then with your grandchildren you can share.
Thinking your going to be an all-star.
Not knowing how long it will be or how far.

~`Sad Day`~

Pulling her hair out,
Wondering why she doubts,
Her friends pass by,
She’s done getting high,
Her dreams soar,
She loves them to her core,
Life isn’t fair,
But she knows they care,
Good byes are not final,
Our love lasts forever,
I’ll wait.

Hints of commitment, affection, and loyalty
Bringing you into a relationship hoping to show you the light.

Teardrops will soak into the cheek
While the heart starts cracking, but not shattered completely through.
Anxiety will overcome you with impure thoughts
And slowly your soul will become sick and weak.

Sunshine will turn to a blur
The flowers will lose its scents,
My hopes and dreams withering away
Just hoping and wishing I was still with her.

Life

Death is slow and painful
I sit in this chair and down this fifth
It makes my head go into a daze
Soon after the pain of this broken heart cease
And I pray to soon join you in a better place
I can feel it, it is almost time I need one more piece to fall into place
I take this pain and spread it everywhere
This will end or I will die trying
In the end what will I have? Nothing
In the end what did I gain? Nothing
In the end death shall be quiet and still
This life always has an end
I have lived long enough
I have endured much now it is my time
May god watch over my sons and daughters
I will not end in a hospital bed I will pass at my home
May my body be burned and spread through the mountains
In a truly serene area untouched by man
In a place where there is a clear view to heaven
It is my time to go.

For my father.

The Other Part Of Me

I hear you breathing, yes you, the ugly girl who has taken over my face
Maybe I hate you for making me hate myself but you hurt me with your strong embrace
I dread the very day I run out of makeup and hair spray
That day will never come you see?
I’m done waking up to your sickening face in my reflection everyday
I can’t wait for the day your forever gone out of my life
The day will be when my eyes are closed and lay there under a light a man and a knife
After that one more waking pain will come but its mostly your pain
Your gone, I have a relief and now no fears no more life for you to drain

It’s like a flower in the bright sun. It wakes and shines.
In the darkness of the night it closes off from the world.
Waiting to get that chance to be in perfect light.
But what if the sun doesn’t come out? What is the flower worth?
It stays closed off. No sun for a month.
Slowly but surely it dies because it was closed off from the world to long.

Away

That was the life I knew
Feeling lost and all alone
The Black Hole feels as
It grows day by day

Despite all this
I’ve never felt so
Jubilee
Here and right now

The songs of Change
Whistle their lovely
Rhythm
In my disobedient brain

Everything seems to fade
And yet I’ve never felt
Closer…
Black Holes

Who Am I?
Who will be there?
Love.
The answer is unknown even to that Black Hole

Will I be invisible?
Will they be there?
No, Yes.
Be gone Black Hole.

I will be back one day.
Black Hole
I don’t want to fear
Those who love

Your lame and aint got game
Go to school cause you talk and act like
A dumb fool

Secret

by Mike

She is you secret lover.
She holds you in your time of need.
When you first find her she’s just a friend,
When she finely starts to wrap her arms around you,
You welcome her warm embrace.
As you start to give her things quicker than you can notice she’s your whole life.
And she’s taking all that you have pulling you over the edge.
You can’t see anything but her beautiful welcoming face.
While you’re not looking she wraps you up so you can’t get away.
But why would you want to her sweet smell and extreme beauty is pulling you closer.
She is your only light in this dark world.
She leads you down a path of heartache and pain.
She’s always there to pick you up but you’d never know she’s the one who knocked you down.
All you feel is her goodness you always forget about the bad.
You look into her eyes and it’s the last thing that you see and now you bound to be like,
me.

Victorious?

Wars desire, death thee,
We show want of life, free,
But ever need for war.
Trained in the moment,
To others show our worth, we,
Upon our dying ever day.
In the moment of naming,
Victors a good name yes,
Shall we ever view differ.
In the world, us its feed,
Unto the world show death,
Ever naturally are we there.
In ours of the dark veil,
We see past essences in,
Until the day claims, we,
Shall I ever be with thee, o’death.

Suicide

Jumping from the tree tops,
Wishing the world was gone,
His vainy green body floats through the wind,
Even a leafs life sometimes turns blue,
He’s fighting a war of his own,
Life flashes past his eyes,
He hits the ground,
In a moment it’s all gone.

Street Dance

I dance in the street,
To a new beat,
I’m all alone,
Seeds of greatness in me they’ve sown,
Colors drift past,
Their all going to fast,
I’ve learned to dance in the streets all alone,
Where I call it home.

Dining Alone

Sorrow and agony flowed down her cheeks
Her, gazing at the stars
Trying to find the gold at the end of the rainbow.
Wishing hearts didn’t shatter, didn’t tear, didn’t break, didn’t beat, didn’t willow Away.

Emotions are trickling with the rain…
Fastly coming down and slowly drying up.
White turns to black, pink turns to a deep red, while green hardens to a lonesome blue.

Her heart hearkens for the clouds to fade away,
The rain to stop!
Again, looking for that gold at the end of the colorful rainbow.

Goodbye

I think about these days that have passed by
And about the day I had to say goodbye.
At times it’s hard and I wish I could just discharge and be back in your heart. Then again I think what I’ve worked for and who has my heart. Could I hurt him and leave him for you…. It’s hard to say but this could never be true. I hate you, I love him. I want you, I want him. I love you but I hate what you put me through.
Why am I still here thinking I can’t be happy with out you. I doubt myself when I should be real with myself. He makes me happy and does more then you could or would ever do. Most of all he would never put me through all the things you would do. I hate to say goodbye because it brings tears to my eyes but I know this time has come to move on and I have no regret I never would have never learned things in life if I had never got taken away. …… so here come comes the words I’ve dread and wish I would have never said but now am proud to say everyday is a better day without you in my life. Goodbye… I hope all the love you had for me has faded away and you see your betters days….

As I see myself in the mirror I see all I wished I could be.
The person people want around, the one that could always be called on,
The one who did no wrong.
As I see all that I’m not.
A voice in the back of my mind comes alive once again,
It’s the sweet loving voice so rarely herd in my childhood.
It told me not to worry everything would be ok.
Even though there was pain there would be happiness.
As I let these words soak through me I realized everything went though did have a purpose.

Life

Life good but when the law comes
To take you down it is just not that
Fun but when they do bust you it
Teaches you a listen about life to
Take care of your self and your
Own family so you do not cause
Them your own pain.

Emotional Neglect

My days are numbered and lonely here
Not returning home is now my only fear
The pain I fell is trapped like a trench deep inside
My scars are deep in my heart, easy to hide
I cry because it makes the most sense
The world is broken like an old picket fence
So now I watch as the blue sky fades black
As I try to make up these things in life that I lack
Right now, is it anger that I feel?
If that’s the case, it’s others joy I must steal
World would you be so kind as to grant me this?
That each day provides us with something new
Bring us happiness in knowing that love is true
My soul is yours if that’s your desire
Saying I need that empty space would make me a liar
What I really want and need now is this dear world
Is for my feelings to calm and not swirled
Please watch the ones I love
Maybe one day I’ll find truth in what lies above.

Memory

The word of the past,
To show us what was.
It never leaves us,
Yet it is never there.
Omnipotent, though we are,
It evades us ever.

To show the power us to,
It controls eye of mind.
Leads us around paths new,
To recreate ours, a new fate.
To its purposes of self,
Shows its mind to us too.

Control it are thoughts ours,
Our intentions, narcissism.
Out hands to grasp they do,
We show our mind-span puny.
In the end it is ever gone,
But ever in front of us.

Urging the undeniable power,
Shows us what it can do.
Of all the things we can do.
Of all the power, will we have.
Why is it, oh ye sons of god,
Cant you control your mind, fate?

Your talking haunts me
And still I hunger for you
Live life with so much to say
And yet I strive for you

Your constant need
Feeds my addicted veins
I don’t understand
But I still partake of the fruit that you offer

I feel as though I can’t
Could never
Part from this
And yet, I’m throwing up cancer

Your stench of speech
Feeds my addicted soul
And yet
I still eat that of which you give

I look at it as game
Unconquerable it may be
And Still
I hunger for you

I question to myself
Am I living a Lie?
My only answer is
Hunger controls me.

Chaos

CHAOS

Definition: A state of things in which chance is supreme.

Chaos is what this whole world is made of
Some things happen in the craziest ways,
And sometimes nothing happens
I rather live my life out of surprise
Then I would have accident forgiveness they forgive and I forget.
Addicted to wild playgrounds and adrenalin,
What to do trips and falls feels like a dream
I want it so bad that it turns out to be real life
I need a risk-o-meter to see how high I can get with out anything holding me back
People get lost in there.

Home

Home
Adj. the social unit formed by a family living together

From the outside home is a refuge the one truly safe place.
But most people don’t see what happens when the door to the “home” closes.
When you look at me all seems fine.
Because you can’t see what happens behind closed blinds.
You don’t see the cuts and bruises.
You only see the smile,
Though it only last for a little while.
You don’t see anything at all hopefully from my walls.
If you look at my face you see nothing at all.
If you look in my eyes and you have to look deep,
And it all begins to leek,
Everything is poring now all my walls have fallen down.
Now you see the fighting, the tears, the screams, and the way I always seem to bleed, but never flee, every time I fall to my
Knees I always seem to find my feet,
Because I refuse to be beat.
My eyes are pleading for you to help
But what can anyone actually do I have no hope
I know ill never get out.
But the only person to ever really look at me just completed the biggest feat.
And all I heard them say was
“lets go home”

RELATIONSHIPS…

My mind it pondered, thinking
What’s the word?
What hits me right at home?
Love? Friendship? NO!

I turned the pages
Gazed into the pictures and words,
Relationships screamed to me
The chimes of a baby’s cry sounded so familiar.

Friends, parents, teenagers, family, pets;
So many different relations using the same golden piece,
A heart!
Swollen, broken, torn, pieced together, or glowing bright!

Passion

Passion
A strong liking or desire for a devotion to some activity, object.

Passion is a strong word that can easily be broken and thrown out the window.
I feel passion everyday I come to school,
I look in his eyes and I question is this passion, love or is this possibly a strong friendship growing to be passionate?
I used to think it would be hard to feel passion like I once felt… But what happens now that I don’t think that,
What happens now if I think this passion I have is stronger?
This feeling of passion is strong and bold and it’s taking its grip while I’m grabbing on to hold,
. I don’t ever won’t to let go and feel that feeling of ever being alone,
I think of him in the morning, in the night, most of all when I am alone wishing for my passion to comfort and stay by my side,
My passion is what keeps me up,
If I didn’t have passion id say everyday I had bad luck,
He makes me happy,
He makes me feel good,
He makes me special,
He lets me know he cares. Most of all he makes me laugh and feel comfortable.
It’s like he’s the apple of my eye,
I hold this strong desire to always be by his side ready to ride,
He is the person I go to confide. He is my passion for being here today,
He is …… passion.

Greed

Greed - Eager for gain, wealth, and the like.

Greed spreads its roots through all things,
Tearing, destroying, changing our reasons.
Greed is the spark starting the forest fire,
Running, ruining, raging till all are slaves,
Living off the life of desire.

Relieving the reasons there,
Helping us earn, be, have more.
Greed is the war surviving,
Existing off the suffering we feed it,
Till the world is rent in twain.

Showing us our extent,
It shows us life.
We strive for it,
Giving it our power.
Letting it control,
We take that of others.

Greed is the time we become more,
More than we let others be.
Greed is the non-existing desire,
The desire to be perfect.
Greed is our power,
The power we show god.

Run, run my dear
Run, run as fast as you can
Run, run have fear
He’s not here to hold your hand

The Chocolate Pirate is near the door
He hates all that oppose him
And when you scream you can’t take it anymore
He knows that he has you in

Run, run little girl the Chocolate Pirate is here
He sneaks in the night and hides in the day
He’ll look through the window and take a peer
Run, run while you may

I told you to run
And now you’re all but done
You’re shocked, you’re scared, you’re even stunned
You’re doomed never to see the morning sun

You have no where to go
He has you in his sight
No more running for you little girl
You’re doomed to live a life of fright

Persuasive: Body Paragraphs

There are three human rights that are a must freedom, respect, and to have a choice.

One human right that all humans deserve to have is freedom. The reason all humans deserve to have freedom is because who has the right to tell people what they can and can’t have? Or what they can and can’t do? The answer is nobody, because everyone is their own individual and society can’t take that away.

Another right all humans deserve is to be respected. The reason everyone deserves to be respected is everyone demands respect even when they don’t give it. Why is this? Because they want to feel like they have some meaning in life and all the work they do is beneficial in some way. There are also people who demand respect because of their culture and what their family has been through. People shouldn’t demand respect it should be given to everyone and received by everyone.

One of the biggest human rights is having the right to make your own choice.
Everyone in the world wants to be able to make their own choices whether they be good or bad. And who should be able to choose for them? Nobody we are our own people nobody knows us like we do. And we all know that when we want to do something and somebody else tells us we cant we feel weak, belittled, angry, and rebellious. So let us make our own choices and deal with our consequences. After all you reap what you sow.

I believe that all people should have Human Rights because they should have the freedom of speech, should be treated with equality, and everyone should be able to make their own choices.

My first reason for this belief is that I do think all humans should have the freedom of speech. We should be able to say what comes to our mind anywhere at anytime. When everyone has different opinions, they should be able to be heard. You should be able so say whether or not you agree or disagree. If you don’t agree with a person’s actions or the way something is happening that affects your lifestyle, then let it be heard. When the elections happen, you have the right to put up for a debate and have the right to fight for what you believe in. Your voice can be heard to either have them persuaded or just for the understanding of how you feel.

My second reason for this belief is that every individual should be treated with equality. Your judgment on others shouldn’t be based on the race of someone or the color of their skin. It shouldn’t matter if you’re from a certain area or not. Every human has the same feelings, has the same opportunities as everyone else. There shouldn’t be certain jobs given to a male or female. Everybody has the same capabilities. Nobody should favor males more then females or females more than males. We are all equal!

My third reason for this belief is that everyone should be able to make their own choices. You should be able to choose your religion. You shouldn’t have to go to some religion you don’t believe in. Another choice every human should be able to make, no matter where they live, is that we should be able to decide how or who we build relationships with and let the public accept it. It shouldn’t matter if there’s relationships between man and man, woman and woman, or woman and man. Everyone has their own choices that should be accepted. In our world everyone should be able to decide what they want and how they want it.

Persuasive: Body Paragraphs

These are the three most basic human rights that everyone deserves, the freedom of choice ,equality, and religion.

The freedom of choice is necessary for anyone to make a choice. I believe that you have to be able to make your own choices in life. No one is an animal, so no one deserves to be treated like one. Everyone of us has a brain, we should be allowed to use it, no one has the right to control someone.

In the past we didn’t have equality. Everyone has something about them that set them apart from the crowd. We all deserve to be treated the same because we are all human. How you look, smell, talk, walk, or anything doesn’t matter. People need to be treated equally or they don’t feel like apart of something, they don’t feel worth anything. That is why we should treat others the way we’d like to be treated because we wouldn’t like to be less either.

Religion is very important in our world today. Religion isn’t all about believing in god. Religion is our beliefs on what is right and what is wrong. Everyone has values, no matter if they are good or bad. This is like the freedom of choice. We should able to not only believe in something but be able to practice our beliefs. This is the core of who you are. No one should be stripped of that, no matter what offenses they have committed. These are the rights you should have as a human.

Persuasive: Body Paragraphs

In my opinion I think that the three most important human rights are one the basic right to make your own choices, two the right to no cruel or unusual punishments and three freedom of speech, you should always be able to say what is on your mind or your opinion with out being punished.

I believe that having your basic right to make choices is a right that we can’t live with out. I believe that it is most important because if we didn’t have the right to make our own choices what would our world be like? We would more than likely be miserable and have no other rights. Having the right to make your own choices is practically your freedom. If you can’t do things on your own then what freedom do you have? Having the right to decide for yourself and make your own choices can fall into many other basic rights and I believe is one of the most important rights.

The right to no cruel and unusual punishment should not even have to be discussed why it should be an important right. There are many crazy people out there who love to torture people and who have outrageous mindsets. In my opinion it is the second most important right that people should have. There are people who are abusing each other and punishing them in ways you can’t even imagine. Why should that be okay? If people were able to punish each other in cruel ways the world would be chaos. I believe the world would be full of evil people. So in other words I just don’t believe that being able to torture and give cruel punishments is right.

The Right to speak your opinion and tell what is on your mind is important. I think it’s a really good right to have. Having this right has changed society in so many ways. Take a look at Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King. If it wasn’t for freedom of speech then who knows maybe we today would still have slaves and be living in a messed up economy. Freedom of speech is very important because it allows individuals to say what they think or feel about certain topics. Freedom of speech helps bring people together or against each other, all depending on how you feel or your opinion. Freedom of speech is a good right to have because without knowing others opinions or what they believe how do you form a good society? You need to know what other people think and Freedom of speech can do that for you. If someone is doing something wrong and there is no freedom of speech, how do you change the wrong your doing if no one can tell you. In my opinion freedom of speech is a necessary right we should always have to know what society and the people around us are feeling.

Persuasive: Body Paragraphs

Three of the basic rights and freedoms that every human should have are: Everybody should have the right to live. Everybody should have the freedom of choice. And, everybody should have the right of equality.

Everybody should have the right to live. If you take the right to live away, a single executioner will be roaming the world in a futile effort trying to find every single person so they can kill them. If someone decides to take the right to live away from everybody, groups of people would band together and kill the executioners in their fight for life. Taking the right to live would only take away the lives of those who are trying to take lives and those defending everyone’s life. The governments make rules and laws, but if nobody has the right to live, the laws are invalid because there will be nobody to live by them except the executioners. Giving the right to live allows for laws and gives everybody something to fight for. It also gives people the ability to create something bigger and better, giving their life purpose.

Everybody should have the freedom of choice. Being human, we have the ability to decipher between what we can and can’t do, what is right and wrong. If you take away the freedom of choice, one person will be making the decision and fate of everybody. People are born with flaws and with the freedom of choice, we are allowed to become more than we ever would without it. Giving the freedom of choice gives people the ability to become who we really are and not who the controller is. Giving the freedom of choice gives people the option of knowledge and with that, we can create something new.

Everybody should have the right to be equal. Giving everybody the right to be equal gives us the same rights as everybody else.

Persuasive: Body Paragraphs

What human rights do you think are most important? There is a big debate over many of our human rights. The human rights that we have now are essential for America to function in unity. We are one and in order to be as such we must protect our human rights.

We have a freedom to make our own choices. This is extremely important. If we are not allowed that basic right we can’t hope to stay sane. True, crime may go down with lack of ability to choose whether or not we want to commit the crime, but what would the punishment be? Would you be sentenced to death if you were to break any law? These are questions that we don’t think about because of the way we live in America.

We have the right to be treated equal. We have had problems with this in the past. We have fought in war over slavery and in its beliefs. No matter the person whether it’s an African American or a clone they are still human beings. In short, treating people differently because of who they are is a sad thing.

People have the right to no cruel punishments. We have seen the abuse of children and couples all the time on the news. Being beaten or brutally murdered for believing against the norm is a sick thing. I have heard of many gays and lesbians be killed for their homosexuality. Can we possibly believe that that is an okay thing?

In conclusion I would ask that you think about your rights. Think about all the freedoms you have and why you have them. You are a very lucky person to be where you are right now. You live in a land of opportunity!

Persuasive: Body Paragraphs

The most important human rights are education, equality and religion.

Education is very helpful to get a job and make a good living. People who are wealthy are usually the people that have a good education. Education is one of the main factors that people look at to hire an employee. With that said, your education is important to help in life skills and keeping a good job.

The second human right that is important is religion. So many people only live to fulfill their duty in religion. People have been killed just for having religion in their lives. The thing is so many people in the world today are religious. If you were to take that away people everywhere would be outraged. If it didn’t result in protest then people would resort to violence. The world would be in a war with people in their own country and maybe even with other countries. In some countries people have to believe in a certain religion. They don’t have a problem with it because they don’t want to be killed.

The last human right I think is important is equality. Everywhere in the world there is racism and countries hating countries. The thing is that people don’t want to be around or be associated with people with a different race or lifestyle. If people were equal in the world, there would be less war and contention. I think that the world would be a better place with people that were equal.

Jordan’s are the best shoes out in the market right now. They last a long time and don’t wear out easy. If you live out in the snow like I do you would probably love to wear Jordan’s. Because they keep your feet warm, and they don’t get wet, or rip. They are very in style if you like to be stylish. I personally love them because they can last forever and their so comfortable. They have support on your heels if you have problems with your feet they support your balance when you walk, run, or jog. Their very cheap for shoes that can last for ever so instead of spending a million on shoes that will rip or get wet spend that on some nice clean and stylish Jordan’s.

They have everything from Motley Crue to Suicide Silence. There are multiple Hot Topics in Utah. The best Hot Topic to me is the one in the Fashion Place Mall. I use to work there a few months ago ant I had a blast at work all the time. You met new people, listened to killer music all day and got discounts on your favorite clothes and accessories. In conclusion Hot Topic isn’t for everyone and it just depends on what you like in a store but to me I think it’s awesome!

Etnies are the number one brand of shoes! I believe that they are great because they come in all different colors, designs, and sizes. In my closet sit many different types of Etnies, and they are all so unique. Etnies have the ability to make someone’s appearance show personality. These shoes also come with laces or no laces at all. If you’re lazy like me, then having no laces can save you a lot of time. At the same time, when having laces, you can tie them a certain way and be done with them. You’d never have to tie them again, just slip them on. You can also have the choice to tie and un-tie them every day. Now I’m sure you’ve got a great perspective on Etnie shoes and should go get yourself a pair…or two!

One of my favorite products would have to be POLO. Their shirts are pretty good. The long sleeve shirts and their sweaters are the best things they got besides their shoes too. Also one of the best places to go shopping at would have to be at the mall, because they got the best nice clothes. Well that’s what I think but people have different likes and dislikes. The mall has a lot of fancy POLO shirts to it sometimes expensive, but they have great deals and some of their discounts are great. Probably two of the best stores to get POLO clothes would have to be Northstorm and Macy’s.

X-box is so much better than other game systems. It is cheaper than Playstation. Most kids don’t have a lot of money. They for the most part can’t get a job because of the economy and their ages. Their parents don’t want to pay for something they wouldn’t even use. With the X-box you don’t have to get batteries for the controllers. Batteries are way expensive, and nobody wants to by batteries for their controllers. It goes back to kids don’t always have money and with no money they can’t even have a game system. That is why X-box is a way better game system than all the others.

Music is popular with everyone, right? Well there are so many different kinds. I mean some people like Rap and others like Opera. My personal favorite is pop because there are so many good artists in that category. Many people that are around my age and even older also like pop. The reason why I like it other then the variety of artist is the fact that category always has new songs. Music is most everybody’s way to fix something in their life. For me I use it to relive stress, clean, calm down and a ton of other things. There are so many people that say that music is their whole life( my fiancé).

Deb is the best store to shop at it is better than al-Mart. It’s better because first of all it’s in the mall and second of all it has the cutest and cheapest clothes.Deb is way cheaper than Wal-Mart. You can go to Wal-Mart and buy a pair of pants for like 20 dollars well at Deb in the mall you go there and get pants for like 12 dollars. Deb is just a good store. They have all different sizes and styles and that’s what I like. In my own opinion I think that Deb is better because they have everything. They have cloths for people who are really skinny and have a hard time finding the right size and they have sizes for people who are bigger and can’t find a lot of cute cloths. That’s what I really like about Deb: they have a plus size selection where there is cute cloths for girls that are big. I noticed that a lot of the time in stores there are not a lot of plus size cloths and if there is then they are not as cute as the other cloths. See but in Deb everything is equal. They have the store divided. And that’s tight. That’s why Deb rocks.

Persuasive Paragraph

The mall is a better place to shop than anywhere else. One reason is because the mall has a very wide variety of everything. You can go into any store and find whatever you want or just walk into the mall with no expectations and find anything. You can also go to the mall for all your needs. It has a food mall, so you can eat, and clothing stores for when you want to get something new. The mall is even a good place to converse with your friends. Another reason why the mall is a better place to shop than everywhere else is because everything there is name brand. Name brand things are better looking than non name brand items. In addition to this, name brand items last longer than non name brand items. When you buy name brand items, it makes it less likely that someone else will have the same thing you do. In short, the mall is the best place to shop because it has everything and its all name brand. Shop there and find the real you in its items.

Team Hoyt

Team Hoyt is a very inspirational to so many people. They are a team made up of father and a son. Their names are Dick and Rick Hoyt. Together they run marathons and triathlons. This report is to exemplify the virtues they posses.

Rick was born in1962, when he was born he was diagnosed with spastic quadriplegic and cerebral palsy. This was due to a lack of oxygen to his brain at the time of his birth. Dick & Judy Rick’s parents were advised at the time of his birth after they were told about his problems to stick him in an institution because he would never be able to live a normal life. Little did they know that Rick would do wonderful and amazing things in his life. At the age of 13 Rick was able to join public school even though nobody ever thought he would be able to communicate until he got his computer that transmitted his brain waves into words.

In spring of 1977 Rick came to his father Dick that he would like to participate in a 5 mile race for a lacrosse player who had been paralyzed in a horrible car accident. After their first race Rick said to his father, “When I’m running I don’t feel like I’m handicap”. So this started them into their marathon days known as Team Hoyt. Now they have ran in over 1,000 races.

In the preface of Sam Nall’s book he said, “In Dick Hoyt’s world, the only difference between a hill and a mountain is something called attitude and along with their courage and determination, the Hoyt family has conquered many mountains for the past forty years”. This family has overcome so many adversities and had a lot of personal growth.
Another great achievement of Rick’s was when his P.E teacher asked him to come to a college basketball game and noticed a sign that mentioned a race and also about Team Hoyt. It was about a 5 mile race when they showed up the organizers believed that they wouldn’t even make it around the first corner. A man named John Chen said, “As I watched, I cried. There is no better example of god’s love then a father’s love for his son. The father has the body and the son is the heart. One without the other is incomplete.

The Hoyt’s have many virtues that exemplify many virtues that exemplify many things and parts of their lives. The three main ones that I have tried to express in this paper are: overcoming adversity, challenges and Personal growth. I hope that by reading this you have noticed all the things that they have done and how much inspiration this family has given to all marathon runners and just everyone around the world.

George Washington

George Washington was a giant in his time. Some people believe his height intimidated his troops, which contributed to his ability to take order and made him a great leader. The events in his life show he was committed to personal growth.

Washington lived a long life. He was born February 22, 1732 in Virginia. Little is known about his early life, though we know he was born to a farmer. He spent his early years working on his father’s farm. Working on the farm made him well built and lean. He was home taught by his mother. Between the farm and the schooling, I think, he learned to work hard and have self discipline.

After Washington turned 16 he spent most of his time at Mount Vernon. He learned the finer points of how to be acceptable in society and make polite conversation. He rarely smiled, though, for the simple fact that his teeth were never very good. I wonder “did people found this rude”?

On April 30, 1789 Washington took his oath as the first President of the United States.
“As the first of everything, in our situation, will serve to establish a precedent,” he wrote James Madison, “it is devoutly on my part, that these precedents may be fixed on the true principles.” (George Washington www.whitehouse.gov ) He must have been very devoted to feel this was his responsibility.

Washington is known as “The father of his country.” He was a surveyor, farmer, and soldier. He held the continental army together at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania during the winter of 1777- 1778. After his presidency, in 1798, he was once again appointed Commander in Chief of the army. He held this title ‘till his death 18 months later on December 4, 1799. this shows how much his fellow countrymen appreciated what he did for them.

In conclusion, George Washington was a man who did something with his life. Starting out as a farmer he became the first President of the United States. We should all learn from his example and know that just because we weren’t given much doesn’t mean we can’t make our lives much more.

Rosa Parks

“Why should I have to get up and stand? Why should we have to be pushed around”? Is what Mrs. Rosa Parks first said on that day she walked into history. “I wanted to be treated like a human being”. Rosa Parks is a great example of our student creed. She understands that choices have results and she is responsible for her actions. She over came adversities and challenges, also practiced good citizenship. And because of that is an inspiration for many.

Parks was born on February fourth 1913 in Tuskegee Alabama, 45 miles east of Montgomery. She grew up in the times of segregation, when blacks were slave free, but weren’t treated equal she was the first child of James and Leona McCauley.

She is a great example of, “choices have results and you’re responsible for your actions”. On that December day Parks made the choice not to give up and fight against segregation. Because of the she got sent to jail, she was the first person to get arrested for that “crime” but as she was waiting for her appeal another court was taking place the Browder vs. Gayle case on June 4th, 1956. It was decided that segregation was unconstitutional.

Parks practiced good citizenship by once being the secretary of the president of the NASCP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People). She was a part of a 381 day Montgomery boycott, where all black people didn’t ride the busses. She is well known as the “mother of civil right movement”. She knew someone had to take the first step, but wasn’t the first to do it. She’s always been timid but that December 1st 1955 she built up a lot of courage.

She knows that she can over come adversities and challenges. Parks made a big change not only for blacks but for women too. She knew someone had to stand up against racial segregation. After the boycott and everything she was harassed and threatened. There was a personal consequence that happened to Parks and family like being threatened in the street by a white man and always reviving menacing calls. Her husband began to sleep with a gun. Rosa and family luckily got relocated to Detroit Michigan. But because of what she did the best result that came out of everything is she made a change a helped stop segregation.

Rosa Parks is an inspiration to me because she follows the creed by over coming challenges and adversities, practiced good citizenship, and understood her choices had results and is responsible for her actions. “We still have a long way to go in improving the race relation in this country”. I’m sure she is right , but we could take everyting one step at a time.

Audrey Hepburn

Did you know that Audrey Hepburn was one of the first actresses to get a million dollar contract? (biography.com) I think she fits the creed in living a life of service, overcoming adversity and challenges, and find success in school.

I think Audrey fits perfectly in overcoming adversity and challenges. The reason I believe that is because when she was a baby she had really bad whooping cough. For awhile she stopped breathing, but her mother kept her faith up and for some reason she smacked her on the butt. Out of no where she came back to life (Ferrer 3). She might have been little, but I think it was still a miracle for her to be alive.

In 1959 she did find success in school. She went to Amsterdam and London to study dance. When she was twenty-two years old she was in the Broadway production Gigi. The production was based on a book by the French writer Colette. The play is about her being a wealthy man without getting married. Two years later she won the academy award for best actress for the film Roman Holiday. Her biggest accomplishment in those years was just getting married to September 25, 1954, in Switzerland. (biography.com)

In the late 1980’s she became a goodwill ambassador for UNICEF. She visited places like Asia, Africa, and Central and South America. She ended up having more then fifty trips. In 1993 she won a special Academy Award for her service. She actually didn’t live long enough to receive the award. She died on January 20, 1993 in Switzerland after a battle with Colon Cancer. (biography.com)

Her work still continues with her sons Sean Ferrer and Luca Dotti, along with Robert Wolders. They established the Audrey Hepburn memorial fund in 1994. She is a great example to a lot of people. Even though she was wealthy she went out and helped those in need in other countries. They are still accepting donations to this day for her children’s fund. (biography.com)

Nelson Mandela

“I have fought against white domination, and I have fought against black domination.” “I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society, in which all persons will live together in harmony and with equal opportunities.” “It is an ideal which I hope to live for, and see realized.” “But if it need be, my lord, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die for.” This are the exact words of one of the greatest South Africans Presidents, Nelson Mandela. Nelson Mandela helped The Defiance Campaign, he showed good citizenship by having disciplined work and consistent effort. Mandela was a strong character, he overcame many challenges and climbed right back to the top.

Mandela was a caring person, and lived a life of service through out most of his life. During the nineteen fifties Mandela was elected a National President. After he witnessed a free-speech demonstration where eight blacks were killed, he knew that the fight for Apartheid would be difficult, and would cause violence. In nineteen fifty two Mandela helped the ANC arrange The Campaign of Defiance of Unjust Laws, a campaign he would devote a lot of his time to, which you can see from the previous quote.

Mandela was a good citizen, and proved it by having disciplined work and consistent effort. Mandela became National Volunteer-in-Chief, he traveled the country organizing resistance to the Discrimination Legislation.

Through out his whole life, Mandela had to overcome many challenges. He was charged and convicted of contravening the suppression of Communism Act, which he was given a suspended prison sentence for. He had been a victim of various forms of repression, he was banned from many events, arrested, and Imprisoned. This were some of his words, “That was painful, wounds which cannot be seen are more painful than the ones you can see, which can be cured by a doctor.” Mandela had struggled with great guilt, pain, and regret when thinking about his family. Over the years, the police had banned and harassed him and his family. It was one of his biggest challenges, but he overcame it in the end.

These are the reasons why I think Nelson Mandela is a person we should all remember, he was a good citizen, he was caring and lived a life of service for his people, and unlike anyone, he overcame difficult challenges and adversities to improve his life. I think he is a good example and a great role model, he is some we should all look up to.

STEVE YOUNG
“To me, overcoming obstacles defines success even more than winning a Super Bowl.” (Young, pg.1) A talented man who ended his career as a quarterback for the 49ers in the NFL spoke those words. This valuable player fits into Summit’s Student Creed in many ways. He shows integrity, education and life long learning, and he also lived a life of service.

“I’m working to develop integrity and live an honest life.” Steve Young showed his integrity day after day. “I know what it’s like to fear the unknown, to want to quit, and to feel worthless. I also know the victory in overcoming struggles.” Steve had struggled when he first started to attend BYU and had his first practice. He encountered embarrassment and was ashamed and felt like a failure. He came to the realization that he couldn’t throw as hard or as fast as the other players and felt lousy only being a freshman. One day after feeling down, he decided to call his dad and told him he wanted to quit and come home. His dad’s response was that he could quit but he couldn’t come home. He refused to live with quitters. Steve opted his choices and decided to stay. Now that he stayed, he made it to the big times and now he’s retired. (www.biggerfasterstronger.com)
I believe that Steve showed integrity because he wanted to quit, but he stayed in the game and became better and stronger so he could compete with the other players. He set his goal standard to be a football player and he didn’t give up.

“Education and life-long learning are the keys to today and the future.” Steve Young had lots of schooling. He attended Brigham Young University when he started his football career. He didn’t take a scholarship for football, which was offered to him. He just decided to sign up for the team and eventually he just started signing contracts. Steve didn’t decide to go back to school until he was retired. After getting injure numerous of times throughout the season, he know it was time to end his football career. So Steve decided to go back to college at BYU and got a Law Degree. (Stewart, pgs. 12-14)
Schooling got him into football and then into Law. As he got his degree, he also received an award: An Honorary Doctor of Letters at Utah Valley State College, for speaking at its graduation ceremonies. (answers.com) I believe that the famous football player fits into the creed on this particular line, because he did go to school, and because he did, he had a great future. Without schooling I doubt Steve would’ve made it in the NFL, and he definitely wouldn’t have gotten his Law Degree.

“I pledge to be caring toward others and live a life of service.” The 49ers’ quarterback cared a lot about his family and he figured that everyone else should have the opportunity to build up their families as well. He started a business which turned out to be a foundation in 1993, and was called Forever Young Foundation. It was to help raise money for different organizations that would increase and encourage the development, security, and strength of the family. Steve showed up to events like golf tournaments, art auctions, and special football clinics to help out volunteers. (Stewart, pgs. 42-43) I believe that Steve Young followed this line of Creed because he was very caring toward others. He created a foundation in the thought of others. He got involved in the Foundation and helped out with fundraisers and had a great attitude about it. He was determined to help others as much as possible.

Steve Young has had a great life living out two tremendous careers. He got his Law Degree and also played in the NFL. 49ers’ fans were glad to have him as their quarterback, winning Super Bowls for them, and being a great leader and sportsman. He showed integrity, education and life-long learning, and he also lived a life of service. The football player showed some great examples of Summit’s Student Creed. It is possible to do something large like Steve Young, by following the creed! Take this creed into your daily lives and you could find yourself living out a dream of yours, or just finding something great in life to better you future!

John Lennon

John Lennon didn’t change music in the enormous fashion like stars such as Elvis or Little Richie; however he did push Rock and Roll forward with such great influence and inspiration that for years the rest of the world had trouble keeping up. I think john Lennon had more impact on the world than anyone before his time. He influenced the world to strive for a better way of life not only for themselves but for everyone around them. People today still talk about him and share his deep intellectual thinking with anyone they can. In my opinion Lennon has overcome more challenges, shown more respect, and done more service for people than anyone I have ever heard, read, or learned about. If everyone in the world had a mindset like Lennon we would live in a much more peaceful world.

Lennon, despite all the good he has done, has lived through and overcome many challenges. Lennon was born in the time of Hitler’s rage throughout England in 1940. He saw little of his father because he went AWOL during his time in the Navy. For the rest of his childhood he was brought up by his Aunt Mimi. When he was about 15 she bought him his first guitar that he played regularly, and she would always say, “The guitars all very well john, but you will never make a living from it.” A few years later despite his aunts’ lack of believing, he proved her wrong and began making more money than she could ever imagine. (www.biographyonline.com) Also despite all the drugs and alcohol turning his life around for the worst. John soon realized his life was a fast paced downward spiral and he needed to pull himself together. He soon after moved back to New York and straightened his life out and continued making music and taking care of his family. (Wright 56-58)

In his early career while he was playing for a skiffle band at school he met Paul McCartney. They struck an immediate friendship and developed a fine partnership while wrings and composing songs. After performing several shows accompanied by George Harrison and Pete Best they settled on calling themselves the Beatles. A few months later they realized Pete was holding them back by not being too experienced and it was decided to replace him with Ringo Starr. Lennon, being the respectful peacemaker he was decided to have a long chat with Pete and after wards they agreed it best if they went their separate ways but managed to stay friends.(www.essortment.com) Lennon was always to try and make peace out of things and have respect for all things and people, he once said “ If being an ego maniac means I believe in what I do and my art or music then in that respect you can call me that, I believe in what I do and I say. But know it’s the same respect I give to what you say and so” (Wright 60)

Lennon spent most of his later years holding rallies, seminars, bed sit ins’, and other causes for peace. He donated countless amounts of money to noble charities and fundraisers to help end the war and create a better life for everyone around him. (Wright 85-86) However it was only after the breakup of the Beatles that the figure the world recognizes as John Lennon truly came into being. Whether he was involved in social activism, giving long, passionate interviews, that once again broadened the nature of public discourse for artists; defining a new life as a self described house husband or writing and recording songs, Lennon came to view his life as a work of art in which every act shimmered with potential meaning for the world. “You say I’m a dreamer but I’m not the only one” he sang in Imagine which has come to be the best known song and anthem of peace to the world. (www.johnlennon.com) No matter what the cause Lennon was always looking for ways to do some sort of service to others.

All in all John has helped Shape music, and changed more peoples lives than anyone else in history. He might not have lived the perfect life, but he the respect he showed, the service he did, and the challenges he proved to the world that we could overcome, has influenced millions to wish, hope and work for a better way of life. If I had to choose one person in history to be my hero there is no doubt anyone could fill my requirements for being such an all around great person as John Lennon has.

Mother Teresa

Do you know who Mother Teresa is? She is a wonderful woman who had a big heart and was ready to help the poor in the world as much as she could. “Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies.” (www.iloveindia.com) that is a quote from Mother Teresa herself. I think that Mother Teresa can fit the student creed because of all the hard work, effort and love she has put into helping others.

I will practice good citizenship so that I can help preserve the democracy in which I live. I pledge to be caring towards others and live a life of service. I am committed to personal growth in all areas of life. Physical. Intellectual. Emotional. Spiritual.

I will practice good citizenship so that I can preserve the democracy in which I live fit Mother Teresa because Mother Teresa did a lot of volunteer help and has made the role of playing the part of being a good citizen. She seen all those poor kids and young adults and that really touched her heart and that’s when she decided to go out and do something to help those in need of it. Mother Teresa goes along with this part of the creed because she was a charity leader, how much better can you show better citizenship… (Tilton, Rafael. The importance of Mother Teresa. Lucent books, inc.2000)

I pledge to be caring and live a life of service. I think that just out of Mother Teresa’s heart of wanting to volunteer to help the poor is a way of showing she cares. In 1948 Mother Teresa got it Okayed to leave the school she was teaching at. She had thought about how she could help people and decided it was something she really wanted to do. So she left and went to go help the poorest of poor people. (www.iloveindia.com)

I think that, that right there was a pledge for her to be caring and help those people who need it. “We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.” (www.iloveindia.com) This is a quote from Mother Teresa which to means me that everything we do counts and will effect someone even if we don’t see it. We still have the impact on others around us.

I am committed to personal growth in all areas of life. Physical. Intellectual. Emotional. Spiritual. To me this is a good line from the creed that fits Mother Teresa. Out of all the kindness in her heart she has had rough times too. Even though she had these hard times she has never stopped helping others. These are a couple of struggles that Mother Teresa went through. She had two heart attacks. One while visiting John Paul in 1989. She has broken three ribs, been hospitalized for malaria, she also had struggles with her heart. She went into surgery because she had some blocked blood vessels.

Out of all this Mother Teresa never stopped helping others. Mother Teresa is a great ideal for fitting the creed. She has proven herself and has touched the lives of others by influencing others and helping them when no one else would.

The Dalai Lama

Have you ever heard of the Dalai Lama? Well I never had, but in my opinion he’s a hero. His belief and want for world peace is extremely admirable.

The Dalai Lama believes to be caring and live a life of service. He asked us several questions. Do you have a selfish approach to others and use them for your own gain? Do you try and understand and help our fellow beings? The Dalai Lama believes in inner peace, calmness and compassion (Gibb 40). I know that his teachings can lead us to peace within ourselves. His belief led him to what he is known for today. For Tibet he once said, “…of total freedom for all Tibet, which has been awaited for a long time, to spontaneously fulfilled; please grant soon the good fortune to enjoy the happy celebration of spiritual with temporal rule” (myhero.com)

When he was exiled, his dream lived on throughout Tibetan pilgrims (myhero.com). I can tell you I don’t think being exiled from home would be easy. He is not allowed to cross over onto Tibetan soil, no exceptions. His most pressing issue is taking care of the thousands of refugees flooding across the border. Tibetans still seek safety in India today (Gibb 34). He has overcome adversity and many challenges.

The Dalai Lama knows that education and life long learning are the keys to today and the future. He has taken an interest in the community and has established many education systems for the children of Tibet (Gibb 36). I think it is amazing the interest the Dalai Lama has taken with education, and the help he gives all the children He said, “Tibetan education has greatly developed, and that is our greatest achievement” (thetibetpost.com).

In conclusion I would ask that you might follow the teachings of the Dalai Lama. If we were all to follow his footsteps his dreams of world peace would come true. All in all the Dalai Lama is an honorable man. You don’t have to be a Tibetan monk to know that what he teaches can help us all.
