Audrey Hepburn

Did you know that Audrey Hepburn was one of the first actresses to get a million dollar contract? (biography.com) I think she fits the creed in living a life of service, overcoming adversity and challenges, and find success in school.

I think Audrey fits perfectly in overcoming adversity and challenges. The reason I believe that is because when she was a baby she had really bad whooping cough. For awhile she stopped breathing, but her mother kept her faith up and for some reason she smacked her on the butt. Out of no where she came back to life (Ferrer 3). She might have been little, but I think it was still a miracle for her to be alive.

In 1959 she did find success in school. She went to Amsterdam and London to study dance. When she was twenty-two years old she was in the Broadway production Gigi. The production was based on a book by the French writer Colette. The play is about her being a wealthy man without getting married. Two years later she won the academy award for best actress for the film Roman Holiday. Her biggest accomplishment in those years was just getting married to September 25, 1954, in Switzerland. In the late 1980’s she became a goodwill ambassador for UNICEF. She visited places like Asia, Africa, and Central and South America. She ended up having more then fifty trips. In 1993 she won a special Academy Award for her service. She actually didn’t live long enough to receive the award. She died on January 20, 1993 in Switzerland after a battle with Colon Cancer. Her work still continues with her sons Sean Ferrer and Luca Dotti, along with Robert Wolders. They established the Audrey Hepburn memorial fund in 1994. She is a great example to a lot of people. Even though she was wealthy she went out and helped those in need in other countries. They are still accepting donations to this day for her children’s fund. (biography.com)
