There are three human rights that are a must freedom, respect, and to have a choice.
One human right that all humans deserve to have is freedom. The reason all humans deserve to have freedom is because who has the right to tell people what they can and can’t have? Or what they can and can’t do? The answer is nobody, because everyone is their own individual and society can’t take that away.
Another right all humans deserve is to be respected. The reason everyone deserves to be respected is everyone demands respect even when they don’t give it. Why is this? Because they want to feel like they have some meaning in life and all the work they do is beneficial in some way. There are also people who demand respect because of their culture and what their family has been through. People shouldn’t demand respect it should be given to everyone and received by everyone.
One of the biggest human rights is having the right to make your own choice. Everyone in the world wants to be able to make their own choices whether they be good or bad. And who should be able to choose for them? Nobody we are our own people nobody knows us like we do. And we all know that when we want to do something and somebody else tells us we cant we feel weak, belittled, angry, and rebellious. So let us make our own choices and deal with our consequences. After all you reap what you sow.
I believe that all people should have Human Rights because they should have the freedom of speech, should be treated with equality, and everyone should be able to make their own choices.
My first reason for this belief is that I do think all humans should have the freedom of speech. We should be able to say what comes to our mind anywhere at anytime. When everyone has different opinions, they should be able to be heard. You should be able so say whether or not you agree or disagree. If you don’t agree with a person’s actions or the way something is happening that affects your lifestyle, then let it be heard. When the elections happen, you have the right to put up for a debate and have the right to fight for what you believe in. Your voice can be heard to either have them persuaded or just for the understanding of how you feel.
My second reason for this belief is that every individual should be treated with equality. Your judgment on others shouldn’t be based on the race of someone or the color of their skin. It shouldn’t matter if you’re from a certain area or not. Every human has the same feelings, has the same opportunities as everyone else. There shouldn’t be certain jobs given to a male or female. Everybody has the same capabilities. Nobody should favor males more then females or females more than males. We are all equal!
My third reason for this belief is that everyone should be able to make their own choices. You should be able to choose your religion. You shouldn’t have to go to some religion you don’t believe in. Another choice every human should be able to make, no matter where they live, is that we should be able to decide how or who we build relationships with and let the public accept it. It shouldn’t matter if there’s relationships between man and man, woman and woman, or woman and man. Everyone has their own choices that should be accepted. In our world everyone should be able to decide what they want and how they want it.
These are the three most basic human rights that everyone deserves, the freedom of choice ,equality, and religion.
The freedom of choice is necessary for anyone to make a choice. I believe that you have to be able to make your own choices in life. No one is an animal, so no one deserves to be treated like one. Everyone of us has a brain, we should be allowed to use it, no one has the right to control someone.
In the past we didn’t have equality. Everyone has something about them that set them apart from the crowd. We all deserve to be treated the same because we are all human. How you look, smell, talk, walk, or anything doesn’t matter. People need to be treated equally or they don’t feel like apart of something, they don’t feel worth anything. That is why we should treat others the way we’d like to be treated because we wouldn’t like to be less either.
Religion is very important in our world today. Religion isn’t all about believing in god. Religion is our beliefs on what is right and what is wrong. Everyone has values, no matter if they are good or bad. This is like the freedom of choice. We should able to not only believe in something but be able to practice our beliefs. This is the core of who you are. No one should be stripped of that, no matter what offenses they have committed. These are the rights you should have as a human.
In my opinion I think that the three most important human rights are one the basic right to make your own choices, two the right to no cruel or unusual punishments and three freedom of speech, you should always be able to say what is on your mind or your opinion with out being punished.
I believe that having your basic right to make choices is a right that we can’t live with out. I believe that it is most important because if we didn’t have the right to make our own choices what would our world be like? We would more than likely be miserable and have no other rights. Having the right to make your own choices is practically your freedom. If you can’t do things on your own then what freedom do you have? Having the right to decide for yourself and make your own choices can fall into many other basic rights and I believe is one of the most important rights.
The right to no cruel and unusual punishment should not even have to be discussed why it should be an important right. There are many crazy people out there who love to torture people and who have outrageous mindsets. In my opinion it is the second most important right that people should have. There are people who are abusing each other and punishing them in ways you can’t even imagine. Why should that be okay? If people were able to punish each other in cruel ways the world would be chaos. I believe the world would be full of evil people. So in other words I just don’t believe that being able to torture and give cruel punishments is right.
The Right to speak your opinion and tell what is on your mind is important. I think it’s a really good right to have. Having this right has changed society in so many ways. Take a look at Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King. If it wasn’t for freedom of speech then who knows maybe we today would still have slaves and be living in a messed up economy. Freedom of speech is very important because it allows individuals to say what they think or feel about certain topics. Freedom of speech helps bring people together or against each other, all depending on how you feel or your opinion. Freedom of speech is a good right to have because without knowing others opinions or what they believe how do you form a good society? You need to know what other people think and Freedom of speech can do that for you. If someone is doing something wrong and there is no freedom of speech, how do you change the wrong your doing if no one can tell you. In my opinion freedom of speech is a necessary right we should always have to know what society and the people around us are feeling.
Three of the basic rights and freedoms that every human should have are: Everybody should have the right to live. Everybody should have the freedom of choice. And, everybody should have the right of equality.
Everybody should have the right to live. If you take the right to live away, a single executioner will be roaming the world in a futile effort trying to find every single person so they can kill them. If someone decides to take the right to live away from everybody, groups of people would band together and kill the executioners in their fight for life. Taking the right to live would only take away the lives of those who are trying to take lives and those defending everyone’s life. The governments make rules and laws, but if nobody has the right to live, the laws are invalid because there will be nobody to live by them except the executioners. Giving the right to live allows for laws and gives everybody something to fight for. It also gives people the ability to create something bigger and better, giving their life purpose.
Everybody should have the freedom of choice. Being human, we have the ability to decipher between what we can and can’t do, what is right and wrong. If you take away the freedom of choice, one person will be making the decision and fate of everybody. People are born with flaws and with the freedom of choice, we are allowed to become more than we ever would without it. Giving the freedom of choice gives people the ability to become who we really are and not who the controller is. Giving the freedom of choice gives people the option of knowledge and with that, we can create something new.
Everybody should have the right to be equal. Giving everybody the right to be equal gives us the same rights as everybody else.
What human rights do you think are most important? There is a big debate over many of our human rights. The human rights that we have now are essential for America to function in unity. We are one and in order to be as such we must protect our human rights.
We have a freedom to make our own choices. This is extremely important. If we are not allowed that basic right we can’t hope to stay sane. True, crime may go down with lack of ability to choose whether or not we want to commit the crime, but what would the punishment be? Would you be sentenced to death if you were to break any law? These are questions that we don’t think about because of the way we live in America.
We have the right to be treated equal. We have had problems with this in the past. We have fought in war over slavery and in its beliefs. No matter the person whether it’s an African American or a clone they are still human beings. In short, treating people differently because of who they are is a sad thing.
People have the right to no cruel punishments. We have seen the abuse of children and couples all the time on the news. Being beaten or brutally murdered for believing against the norm is a sick thing. I have heard of many gays and lesbians be killed for their homosexuality. Can we possibly believe that that is an okay thing?
In conclusion I would ask that you think about your rights. Think about all the freedoms you have and why you have them. You are a very lucky person to be where you are right now. You live in a land of opportunity!
The most important human rights are education, equality and religion.
Education is very helpful to get a job and make a good living. People who are wealthy are usually the people that have a good education. Education is one of the main factors that people look at to hire an employee. With that said, your education is important to help in life skills and keeping a good job.
The second human right that is important is religion. So many people only live to fulfill their duty in religion. People have been killed just for having religion in their lives. The thing is so many people in the world today are religious. If you were to take that away people everywhere would be outraged. If it didn’t result in protest then people would resort to violence. The world would be in a war with people in their own country and maybe even with other countries. In some countries people have to believe in a certain religion. They don’t have a problem with it because they don’t want to be killed.
The last human right I think is important is equality. Everywhere in the world there is racism and countries hating countries. The thing is that people don’t want to be around or be associated with people with a different race or lifestyle. If people were equal in the world, there would be less war and contention. I think that the world would be a better place with people that were equal.
Jordan’s are the best shoes out in the market right now. They last a long time and don’t wear out easy. If you live out in the snow like I do you would probably love to wear Jordan’s. Because they keep your feet warm, and they don’t get wet, or rip. They are very in style if you like to be stylish. I personally love them because they can last forever and their so comfortable. They have support on your heels if you have problems with your feet they support your balance when you walk, run, or jog. Their very cheap for shoes that can last for ever so instead of spending a million on shoes that will rip or get wet spend that on some nice clean and stylish Jordan’s.
One of my favorite products would have to be Dickies clothing. The reason is they always look good and they last forever. You can go from being the most formal church going person to kickin’ back casually with your friends. They are staple clothing for most cultures. They come in almost any color that you can think of so you can have tons of out fits all matched with Dickies. In conclusion I believe if you try this product you will be highly satisfied and come to find the same.
Hot Topic is the sickest store I have ever been to. It has a lot of variety and has great sales. My favorite thing about Hot Topic is that they have my favorite band shirts. They have everything from Motley Crue to Suicide Silence. There are multiple Hot Topics in Utah. The best Hot Topic to me is the one in the Fashion Place Mall. I use to work there a few months ago ant I had a blast at work all the time. You met new people, listened to killer music all day and got discounts on your favorite clothes and accessories. In conclusion Hot Topic isn’t for everyone and it just depends on what you like in a store but to me I think it’s awesome!
Etnies are the number one brand of shoes! I believe that they are great because they come in all different colors, designs, and sizes. In my closet sit many different types of Etnies, and they are all so unique. Etnies have the ability to make someone’s appearance show personality. These shoes also come with laces or no laces at all. If you’re lazy like me, then having no laces can save you a lot of time. At the same time, when having laces, you can tie them a certain way and be done with them. You’d never have to tie them again, just slip them on. You can also have the choice to tie and un-tie them every day. Now I’m sure you’ve got a great perspective on Etnie shoes and should go get yourself a pair…or two!
One of my favorite products would have to be POLO. Their shirts are pretty good. The long sleeve shirts and their sweaters are the best things they got besides their shoes too. Also one of the best places to go shopping at would have to be at the mall, because they got the best nice clothes. Well that’s what I think but people have different likes and dislikes. The mall has a lot of fancy POLO shirts to it sometimes expensive, but they have great deals and some of their discounts are great. Probably two of the best stores to get POLO clothes would have to be Northstorm and Macy’s.
X-box is so much better than other game systems. It is cheaper than Playstation. Most kids don’t have a lot of money. They for the most part can’t get a job because of the economy and their ages. Their parents don’t want to pay for something they wouldn’t even use. With the X-box you don’t have to get batteries for the controllers. Batteries are way expensive, and nobody wants to by batteries for their controllers. It goes back to kids don’t always have money and with no money they can’t even have a game system. That is why X-box is a way better game system than all the others.
Deb is the best store to shop at it is better than al-Mart. It’s better because first of all it’s in the mall and second of all it has the cutest and cheapest clothes.Deb is way cheaper than Wal-Mart. You can go to Wal-Mart and buy a pair of pants for like 20 dollars well at Deb in the mall you go there and get pants for like 12 dollars. Deb is just a good store. They have all different sizes and styles and that’s what I like. In my own opinion I think that Deb is better because they have everything. They have cloths for people who are really skinny and have a hard time finding the right size and they have sizes for people who are bigger and can’t find a lot of cute cloths. That’s what I really like about Deb: they have a plus size selection where there is cute cloths for girls that are big. I noticed that a lot of the time in stores there are not a lot of plus size cloths and if there is then they are not as cute as the other cloths. See but in Deb everything is equal. They have the store divided. And that’s tight. That’s why Deb rocks.
The mall is a better place to shop than anywhere else. One reason is because the mall has a very wide variety of everything. You can go into any store and find whatever you want or just walk into the mall with no expectations and find anything. You can also go to the mall for all your needs. It has a food mall, so you can eat, and clothing stores for when you want to get something new. The mall is even a good place to converse with your friends. Another reason why the mall is a better place to shop than everywhere else is because everything there is name brand. Name brand things are better looking than non name brand items. In addition to this, name brand items last longer than non name brand items. When you buy name brand items, it makes it less likely that someone else will have the same thing you do. In short, the mall is the best place to shop because it has everything and its all name brand. Shop there and find the real you in its items.
Team Hoyt is a very inspirational to so many people. They are a team made up of father and a son. Their names are Dick and Rick Hoyt. Together they run marathons and triathlons. This report is to exemplify the virtues they posses.
Rick was born in1962, when he was born he was diagnosed with spastic quadriplegic and cerebral palsy. This was due to a lack of oxygen to his brain at the time of his birth. Dick & Judy Rick’s parents were advised at the time of his birth after they were told about his problems to stick him in an institution because he would never be able to live a normal life. Little did they know that Rick would do wonderful and amazing things in his life. At the age of 13 Rick was able to join public school even though nobody ever thought he would be able to communicate until he got his computer that transmitted his brain waves into words.
In spring of 1977 Rick came to his father Dick that he would like to participate in a 5 mile race for a lacrosse player who had been paralyzed in a horrible car accident. After their first race Rick said to his father, “When I’m running I don’t feel like I’m handicap”. So this started them into their marathon days known as Team Hoyt. Now they have ran in over 1,000 races.
In the preface of Sam Nall’s book he said, “In Dick Hoyt’s world, the only difference between a hill and a mountain is something called attitude and along with their courage and determination, the Hoyt family has conquered many mountains for the past forty years”. This family has overcome so many adversities and had a lot of personal growth. Another great achievement of Rick’s was when his P.E teacher asked him to come to a college basketball game and noticed a sign that mentioned a race and also about Team Hoyt. It was about a 5 mile race when they showed up the organizers believed that they wouldn’t even make it around the first corner. A man named John Chen said, “As I watched, I cried. There is no better example of god’s love then a father’s love for his son. The father has the body and the son is the heart. One without the other is incomplete.
The Hoyt’s have many virtues that exemplify many virtues that exemplify many things and parts of their lives. The three main ones that I have tried to express in this paper are: overcoming adversity, challenges and Personal growth. I hope that by reading this you have noticed all the things that they have done and how much inspiration this family has given to all marathon runners and just everyone around the world.
George Washington was a giant in his time. Some people believe his height intimidated his troops, which contributed to his ability to take order and made him a great leader. The events in his life show he was committed to personal growth.
Washington lived a long life. He was born February 22, 1732 in Virginia. Little is known about his early life, though we know he was born to a farmer. He spent his early years working on his father’s farm. Working on the farm made him well built and lean. He was home taught by his mother. Between the farm and the schooling, I think, he learned to work hard and have self discipline.
After Washington turned 16 he spent most of his time at Mount Vernon. He learned the finer points of how to be acceptable in society and make polite conversation. He rarely smiled, though, for the simple fact that his teeth were never very good. I wonder “did people found this rude”?
On April 30, 1789 Washington took his oath as the first President of the United States. “As the first of everything, in our situation, will serve to establish a precedent,” he wrote James Madison, “it is devoutly on my part, that these precedents may be fixed on the true principles.” (George Washington www.whitehouse.gov ) He must have been very devoted to feel this was his responsibility.
Washington is known as “The father of his country.” He was a surveyor, farmer, and soldier. He held the continental army together at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania during the winter of 1777- 1778. After his presidency, in 1798, he was once again appointed Commander in Chief of the army. He held this title ‘till his death 18 months later on December 4, 1799. this shows how much his fellow countrymen appreciated what he did for them.
In conclusion, George Washington was a man who did something with his life. Starting out as a farmer he became the first President of the United States. We should all learn from his example and know that just because we weren’t given much doesn’t mean we can’t make our lives much more.
“Why should I have to get up and stand? Why should we have to be pushed around”? Is what Mrs. Rosa Parks first said on that day she walked into history. “I wanted to be treated like a human being”. Rosa Parks is a great example of our student creed. She understands that choices have results and she is responsible for her actions. She over came adversities and challenges, also practiced good citizenship. And because of that is an inspiration for many.
Parks was born on February fourth 1913 in Tuskegee Alabama, 45 miles east of Montgomery. She grew up in the times of segregation, when blacks were slave free, but weren’t treated equal she was the first child of James and Leona McCauley.
She is a great example of, “choices have results and you’re responsible for your actions”. On that December day Parks made the choice not to give up and fight against segregation. Because of the she got sent to jail, she was the first person to get arrested for that “crime” but as she was waiting for her appeal another court was taking place the Browder vs. Gayle case on June 4th, 1956. It was decided that segregation was unconstitutional.
Parks practiced good citizenship by once being the secretary of the president of the NASCP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People). She was a part of a 381 day Montgomery boycott, where all black people didn’t ride the busses. She is well known as the “mother of civil right movement”. She knew someone had to take the first step, but wasn’t the first to do it. She’s always been timid but that December 1st 1955 she built up a lot of courage.
She knows that she can over come adversities and challenges. Parks made a big change not only for blacks but for women too. She knew someone had to stand up against racial segregation. After the boycott and everything she was harassed and threatened. There was a personal consequence that happened to Parks and family like being threatened in the street by a white man and always reviving menacing calls. Her husband began to sleep with a gun. Rosa and family luckily got relocated to Detroit Michigan. But because of what she did the best result that came out of everything is she made a change a helped stop segregation.
Rosa Parks is an inspiration to me because she follows the creed by over coming challenges and adversities, practiced good citizenship, and understood her choices had results and is responsible for her actions. “We still have a long way to go in improving the race relation in this country”. I’m sure she is right , but we could take everyting one step at a time.
Did you know that Audrey Hepburn was one of the first actresses to get a million dollar contract? (biography.com) I think she fits the creed in living a life of service, overcoming adversity and challenges, and find success in school.
I think Audrey fits perfectly in overcoming adversity and challenges. The reason I believe that is because when she was a baby she had really bad whooping cough. For awhile she stopped breathing, but her mother kept her faith up and for some reason she smacked her on the butt. Out of no where she came back to life (Ferrer 3). She might have been little, but I think it was still a miracle for her to be alive.
In 1959 she did find success in school. She went to Amsterdam and London to study dance. When she was twenty-two years old she was in the Broadway production Gigi. The production was based on a book by the French writer Colette. The play is about her being a wealthy man without getting married. Two years later she won the academy award for best actress for the film Roman Holiday. Her biggest accomplishment in those years was just getting married to September 25, 1954, in Switzerland. (biography.com)
In the late 1980’s she became a goodwill ambassador for UNICEF. She visited places like Asia, Africa, and Central and South America. She ended up having more then fifty trips. In 1993 she won a special Academy Award for her service. She actually didn’t live long enough to receive the award. She died on January 20, 1993 in Switzerland after a battle with Colon Cancer. (biography.com)
Her work still continues with her sons Sean Ferrer and Luca Dotti, along with Robert Wolders. They established the Audrey Hepburn memorial fund in 1994. She is a great example to a lot of people. Even though she was wealthy she went out and helped those in need in other countries. They are still accepting donations to this day for her children’s fund. (biography.com)
“I have fought against white domination, and I have fought against black domination.” “I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society, in which all persons will live together in harmony and with equal opportunities.” “It is an ideal which I hope to live for, and see realized.” “But if it need be, my lord, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die for.” This are the exact words of one of the greatest South Africans Presidents, Nelson Mandela. Nelson Mandela helped The Defiance Campaign, he showed good citizenship by having disciplined work and consistent effort. Mandela was a strong character, he overcame many challenges and climbed right back to the top.
Mandela was a caring person, and lived a life of service through out most of his life. During the nineteen fifties Mandela was elected a National President. After he witnessed a free-speech demonstration where eight blacks were killed, he knew that the fight for Apartheid would be difficult, and would cause violence. In nineteen fifty two Mandela helped the ANC arrange The Campaign of Defiance of Unjust Laws, a campaign he would devote a lot of his time to, which you can see from the previous quote.
Mandela was a good citizen, and proved it by having disciplined work and consistent effort. Mandela became National Volunteer-in-Chief, he traveled the country organizing resistance to the Discrimination Legislation.
Through out his whole life, Mandela had to overcome many challenges. He was charged and convicted of contravening the suppression of Communism Act, which he was given a suspended prison sentence for. He had been a victim of various forms of repression, he was banned from many events, arrested, and Imprisoned. This were some of his words, “That was painful, wounds which cannot be seen are more painful than the ones you can see, which can be cured by a doctor.” Mandela had struggled with great guilt, pain, and regret when thinking about his family. Over the years, the police had banned and harassed him and his family. It was one of his biggest challenges, but he overcame it in the end.
These are the reasons why I think Nelson Mandela is a person we should all remember, he was a good citizen, he was caring and lived a life of service for his people, and unlike anyone, he overcame difficult challenges and adversities to improve his life. I think he is a good example and a great role model, he is some we should all look up to.
STEVE YOUNG “To me, overcoming obstacles defines success even more than winning a Super Bowl.” (Young, pg.1) A talented man who ended his career as a quarterback for the 49ers in the NFL spoke those words. This valuable player fits into Summit’s Student Creed in many ways. He shows integrity, education and life long learning, and he also lived a life of service.
“I’m working to develop integrity and live an honest life.” Steve Young showed his integrity day after day. “I know what it’s like to fear the unknown, to want to quit, and to feel worthless. I also know the victory in overcoming struggles.” Steve had struggled when he first started to attend BYU and had his first practice. He encountered embarrassment and was ashamed and felt like a failure. He came to the realization that he couldn’t throw as hard or as fast as the other players and felt lousy only being a freshman. One day after feeling down, he decided to call his dad and told him he wanted to quit and come home. His dad’s response was that he could quit but he couldn’t come home. He refused to live with quitters. Steve opted his choices and decided to stay. Now that he stayed, he made it to the big times and now he’s retired. (www.biggerfasterstronger.com) I believe that Steve showed integrity because he wanted to quit, but he stayed in the game and became better and stronger so he could compete with the other players. He set his goal standard to be a football player and he didn’t give up.
“Education and life-long learning are the keys to today and the future.” Steve Young had lots of schooling. He attended Brigham Young University when he started his football career. He didn’t take a scholarship for football, which was offered to him. He just decided to sign up for the team and eventually he just started signing contracts. Steve didn’t decide to go back to school until he was retired. After getting injure numerous of times throughout the season, he know it was time to end his football career. So Steve decided to go back to college at BYU and got a Law Degree. (Stewart, pgs. 12-14) Schooling got him into football and then into Law. As he got his degree, he also received an award: An Honorary Doctor of Letters at Utah Valley State College, for speaking at its graduation ceremonies. (answers.com) I believe that the famous football player fits into the creed on this particular line, because he did go to school, and because he did, he had a great future. Without schooling I doubt Steve would’ve made it in the NFL, and he definitely wouldn’t have gotten his Law Degree.
“I pledge to be caring toward others and live a life of service.” The 49ers’ quarterback cared a lot about his family and he figured that everyone else should have the opportunity to build up their families as well. He started a business which turned out to be a foundation in 1993, and was called Forever Young Foundation. It was to help raise money for different organizations that would increase and encourage the development, security, and strength of the family. Steve showed up to events like golf tournaments, art auctions, and special football clinics to help out volunteers. (Stewart, pgs. 42-43) I believe that Steve Young followed this line of Creed because he was very caring toward others. He created a foundation in the thought of others. He got involved in the Foundation and helped out with fundraisers and had a great attitude about it. He was determined to help others as much as possible.
Steve Young has had a great life living out two tremendous careers. He got his Law Degree and also played in the NFL. 49ers’ fans were glad to have him as their quarterback, winning Super Bowls for them, and being a great leader and sportsman. He showed integrity, education and life-long learning, and he also lived a life of service. The football player showed some great examples of Summit’s Student Creed. It is possible to do something large like Steve Young, by following the creed! Take this creed into your daily lives and you could find yourself living out a dream of yours, or just finding something great in life to better you future!
John Lennon didn’t change music in the enormous fashion like stars such as Elvis or Little Richie; however he did push Rock and Roll forward with such great influence and inspiration that for years the rest of the world had trouble keeping up. I think john Lennon had more impact on the world than anyone before his time. He influenced the world to strive for a better way of life not only for themselves but for everyone around them. People today still talk about him and share his deep intellectual thinking with anyone they can. In my opinion Lennon has overcome more challenges, shown more respect, and done more service for people than anyone I have ever heard, read, or learned about. If everyone in the world had a mindset like Lennon we would live in a much more peaceful world.
Lennon, despite all the good he has done, has lived through and overcome many challenges. Lennon was born in the time of Hitler’s rage throughout England in 1940. He saw little of his father because he went AWOL during his time in the Navy. For the rest of his childhood he was brought up by his Aunt Mimi. When he was about 15 she bought him his first guitar that he played regularly, and she would always say, “The guitars all very well john, but you will never make a living from it.” A few years later despite his aunts’ lack of believing, he proved her wrong and began making more money than she could ever imagine. (www.biographyonline.com) Also despite all the drugs and alcohol turning his life around for the worst. John soon realized his life was a fast paced downward spiral and he needed to pull himself together. He soon after moved back to New York and straightened his life out and continued making music and taking care of his family. (Wright 56-58)
In his early career while he was playing for a skiffle band at school he met Paul McCartney. They struck an immediate friendship and developed a fine partnership while wrings and composing songs. After performing several shows accompanied by George Harrison and Pete Best they settled on calling themselves the Beatles. A few months later they realized Pete was holding them back by not being too experienced and it was decided to replace him with Ringo Starr. Lennon, being the respectful peacemaker he was decided to have a long chat with Pete and after wards they agreed it best if they went their separate ways but managed to stay friends.(www.essortment.com) Lennon was always to try and make peace out of things and have respect for all things and people, he once said “ If being an ego maniac means I believe in what I do and my art or music then in that respect you can call me that, I believe in what I do and I say. But know it’s the same respect I give to what you say and so” (Wright 60)
Lennon spent most of his later years holding rallies, seminars, bed sit ins’, and other causes for peace. He donated countless amounts of money to noble charities and fundraisers to help end the war and create a better life for everyone around him. (Wright 85-86) However it was only after the breakup of the Beatles that the figure the world recognizes as John Lennon truly came into being. Whether he was involved in social activism, giving long, passionate interviews, that once again broadened the nature of public discourse for artists; defining a new life as a self described house husband or writing and recording songs, Lennon came to view his life as a work of art in which every act shimmered with potential meaning for the world. “You say I’m a dreamer but I’m not the only one” he sang in Imagine which has come to be the best known song and anthem of peace to the world. (www.johnlennon.com) No matter what the cause Lennon was always looking for ways to do some sort of service to others.
All in all John has helped Shape music, and changed more peoples lives than anyone else in history. He might not have lived the perfect life, but he the respect he showed, the service he did, and the challenges he proved to the world that we could overcome, has influenced millions to wish, hope and work for a better way of life. If I had to choose one person in history to be my hero there is no doubt anyone could fill my requirements for being such an all around great person as John Lennon has.

Do you know who Mother Teresa is? She is a wonderful woman who had a big heart and was ready to help the poor in the world as much as she could. “Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies.” (www.iloveindia.com) that is a quote from Mother Teresa herself. I think that Mother Teresa can fit the student creed because of all the hard work, effort and love she has put into helping others.
I will practice good citizenship so that I can help preserve the democracy in which I live. I pledge to be caring towards others and live a life of service. I am committed to personal growth in all areas of life. Physical. Intellectual. Emotional. Spiritual.
I will practice good citizenship so that I can preserve the democracy in which I live fit Mother Teresa because Mother Teresa did a lot of volunteer help and has made the role of playing the part of being a good citizen. She seen all those poor kids and young adults and that really touched her heart and that’s when she decided to go out and do something to help those in need of it. Mother Teresa goes along with this part of the creed because she was a charity leader, how much better can you show better citizenship… (Tilton, Rafael. The importance of Mother Teresa. Lucent books, inc.2000)
I pledge to be caring and live a life of service. I think that just out of Mother Teresa’s heart of wanting to volunteer to help the poor is a way of showing she cares. In 1948 Mother Teresa got it Okayed to leave the school she was teaching at. She had thought about how she could help people and decided it was something she really wanted to do. So she left and went to go help the poorest of poor people. (www.iloveindia.com)
I think that, that right there was a pledge for her to be caring and help those people who need it. “We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.” (www.iloveindia.com)This is a quote from Mother Teresa which to means me that everything we do counts and will effect someone even if we don’t see it. We still have the impact on others around us.
I am committed to personal growth in all areas of life. Physical. Intellectual. Emotional. Spiritual. To me this is a good line from the creed that fits Mother Teresa. Out of all the kindness in her heart she has had rough times too. Even though she had these hard times she has never stopped helping others. These are a couple of struggles that Mother Teresa went through. She had two heart attacks. One while visiting John Paul in 1989. She has broken three ribs, been hospitalized for malaria, she also had struggles with her heart. She went into surgery because she had some blocked blood vessels.
Out of all this Mother Teresa never stopped helping others. Mother Teresa is a great ideal for fitting the creed. She has proven herself and has touched the lives of others by influencing others and helping them when no one else would.
Have you ever heard of the Dalai Lama? Well I never had, but in my opinion he’s a hero. His belief and want for world peace is extremely admirable.
The Dalai Lama believes to be caring and live a life of service. He asked us several questions. Do you have a selfish approach to others and use them for your own gain? Do you try and understand and help our fellow beings? The Dalai Lama believes in inner peace, calmness and compassion (Gibb 40). I know that his teachings can lead us to peace within ourselves. His belief led him to what he is known for today. For Tibet he once said, “…of total freedom for all Tibet, which has been awaited for a long time, to spontaneously fulfilled; please grant soon the good fortune to enjoy the happy celebration of spiritual with temporal rule” (myhero.com)
When he was exiled, his dream lived on throughout Tibetan pilgrims (myhero.com). I can tell you I don’t think being exiled from home would be easy. He is not allowed to cross over onto Tibetan soil, no exceptions. His most pressing issue is taking care of the thousands of refugees flooding across the border. Tibetans still seek safety in India today (Gibb 34). He has overcome adversity and many challenges.
The Dalai Lama knows that education and life long learning are the keys to today and the future. He has taken an interest in the community and has established many education systems for the children of Tibet (Gibb 36). I think it is amazing the interest the Dalai Lama has taken with education, and the help he gives all the children He said, “Tibetan education has greatly developed, and that is our greatest achievement” (thetibetpost.com).
In conclusion I would ask that you might follow the teachings of the Dalai Lama. If we were all to follow his footsteps his dreams of world peace would come true. All in all the Dalai Lama is an honorable man. You don’t have to be a Tibetan monk to know that what he teaches can help us all.
