Lessons

Red teaches Thomas by teaching him in metaphors. He is basically telling Tom that he shouldn’t get started in anything he can’t handle. When Red says, “when you get mad don’t take it out on me.” I think he is really saying when you get into those situations you can’t handle you are going to get angry but you need to focus and not do anything hasty. When you feel that anger, reinforce it to do something positive with it. I believe what Red says can apply to all of us and can help.

Many people struggle with feelings of anger, including me. I admire the people that can really control the anger and reinforce it for good intentions. It is hard work to control anger it is a trigger just waiting to be pulled. Overall I believe if we use the words of Red, as unwise as he turns out, that you and I could benefit.

I like how you incorporated a specific example from the book to explain the author’s use of metaphors. You provided some background information and then also explained the quote after you used it. This helped me to understand how you related this example to your own life. It was organized well making it easy for me to focus on your ideas. One suggestion I have, is to explain ways the reader will benefit if he follows Red’s advice.
