Killing in Self Defense

If someone breaks into your house, then you can use as much force as they use against you. If they use their fists, you can beat them to a pulp, or at least attempt to. If they use a knife, you can use any form of blade. If they have a gun, shoot them first. If you shoot them more then three times, it is called excessive overkill. If you shoot them and they aren’t dead, they can sue you. If you shoot them and they’re no longer in the house (i.e. they fell out of the house) it is murder. In summery if some one breaks into your house, you can use as much force as is used against them. By law you are allowed to shoot to kill. Shoot them no more then three times. Also make sure they stay in the house so you don’t get charged with murder.

If someone break into your house you do have the right to protect your self as long as you do not over do it.

Sam,
I really enjoyed you commentary on the right to defend yourself, in case of a break in. In the state of Colorado, there is a law called the Make My Day Law, which states that you are not guilty of murder if you shoot someone breaking into your house, posing a threat. Your Blog would have been stronger if you had used this Law as evidence, or backed up your claims with specific laws, or facts. Otherwise, Very good post.
